A tip of the hat to Monika Schnack of Pfedelbach Germany
Pfalzgrafenstein is near the town KaubPfalz. It is the earl of Pflaz's castle, located on a rock in the middle of the Rhein River. It was built in 1326-1327, 110 meters from the right shore and 160 meters from the left to tax all ships with goods. Since 2002 the castle has been a UNESCO world heritage site and was restored in 2007. In the background of your picture you see the vineyards on the river Rhine. Wine from Pfalz is smooth (Americans like it, our vine is dry, not too sweet) because of the sun and the warm climate in the "Rheingraben" (Rhein-valley).
